Process Description

In the Rielli active sludge process operating by principle of continuous input / intermittent output, the aeration and precipitation operations are performed in the same tank by interrupting the aeration process periodically.

During aeration process, the bacteria (active sludge) shall, by their biochemical action, break down the organic substances, suspended and dissolved, which constitute pollution in the waste water and eliminate them by oxidation. Oxygen and fully agitated environment necessary for this purpose is supplied by blower.

Upon interruption of the aeration process, this time precipitation starts in the same volume. During this process, the waste water treated biologically is separated from the waste water active sludge. After separation, the treated water is discharged by waste water discharge pump. Liquid chlorine is injected on the discharge line or the treated water is disinfected by UV rays. The treated water may be used as it is or it may be further treated for irrigation purpose.

Excess part of the active sludge which feeds on organic substances in the waste water and proliferates is very small in Rielli active sludge process.  This sludge, of fertilizer character entirely, is taken and removed from the unit by help of sewage truck several times a year.
